If you have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 it's possible that your vehicle came with either a transponder chip key, or a regular mechanical key with no chip inside.  Please be sure to verify which key you need before purchasing.

If your vehicle came with regular mechanical key, then you only need to get the key blade cut to match your vehicle for it to work.

If your vehicle came with a transponder chip key, then you also need to get the chip programmed to your vehicle after the key blade as been cut.

Can I program a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 key by myself?

If you have lost all of your remotes, or don't have any working remotes, then you will not be able to follow the self-programming instructions.

You will have to take this remote fob and your vehicle to an automotive locksmith or dealership for programming.
